This is the story of Ray Bancroft, a widowed Alaskan fisherman who is
raising his granddaughter. Trouble comes when Ray’s estranged daughter
returns from prison, her search for a safe harbor threatening everything
Ray holds sacred.

Rob Yardumian’s debut novel is The Sound of Songs Across the Water.
The story takes place in the summer of 1995 in Los Angeles. Washed-out
musician Riley Walter hasn’t had an album in fifteen years. He joins
former bandmate Will Taylor to produce a new album, and long-buried
conflicts darken the sunny California scene. It’s a tale about the
struggles of two old friends, music, sex, charisma, art, love, and the
power of money.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1863550222377284154.post-83574330859598510492014-04-06T16:58:00.000-07:002014-04-06T16:58:05.595-07:00Poetry with Harold Johnson and Robert A. self-publishing is the most exciting thing happening in publishing today. It’s
not hard to see why Coker might believe this, since the company he founded in
2008, Smashwords, has become a leading distributor for self-published books.
Smashwords is known for its ease of use; authors simply upload their
manuscripts as Microsoft Word files, and Smashwords converts these files into

brings key insights into how self-published authors can replicate the critical
elements traditionally supplied by publishers in order to create successful e-books.

Ooligan Press seeks creative nonfiction and personal essays from LGBTQ
writers of the Pacific Northwest for the anthology More than Marriage
(working title). The anthology will add fresh voices to an ongoing
conversation about queer equality, with the understanding that the
national focus on gay marriage may not answer the most pressing concerns
for many members of the community. These include, but are not limited
to, experiences with healthcare and employment, definitions of family
and partnerships that extend beyond the nuclear or monogamous
traditions, definitions of home, explorations of visibility, of
equality, and more. What is important to you? We seek diverse
perspectives and strongly encourage trans* writers, writers of color,
rural and working class writers to submit.

Authors should identify as LGBTQ. Submissions should have some
relationship to the Pacific Northwest. Authors may submit works of no
more than 5,000 words each to https://ooliganpress.submittable.com/submit. Please include email contact information and a 100 word bio.

Deadline to submit is November 15, 2013.
Press is a general trade publisher rooted in the rich literary
tradition of the Pacific Northwest. From this wealth of culture, Ooligan Press
aspires to discover works that reflect the values and attitudes that
inspire so many to call the Northwest their home. We recognize the importance of diversity, particularly within the
publishing industry, and are committed to building a literary community
that includes traditionally underrepresented voices; therefore, we are
interested in works originating from, or focusing on, marginalized
communities of the Pacific Northwest.
