Memoirist and short story writer Kevin Sampsell will be offering private one-on-one mentoring as part of our Mentor in the House weekend program. Writers working on short fiction or memoir pieces should consider this unique opportunity to work closely with an accomplished author.
For the weekend, Mr. Sampsell will live and write at the Colonyhouse, a historic log cabin on the Oregon Coast at Rockaway Beach, and will be available for personally tailored hour-long consultations with each retreat participant. In addition to plenty of time to write over the weekend, an optional Saturday night sharing allows participants to workshop their writing in a relaxed atmosphere with the mentor and other retreat-goers.
Kevin Sampsell is the author of a memoir, A Common Pornography, and two short story collections, Creamy Bullets and Beautiful Blemish. He edited the anthology, Portland Noir (a Powell’s bestseller for over a year), and has run the influential small press, Future Tense Books, since 1990. His fiction has been published widely on the Internet and in literary journals and his nonfiction has been published in several newspapers and through the Associated Press.
