Andra Rotaru and Zachary Schomburg Reading

The Portland Institute for Contemporary Art and Literary Arts invite you to join them Wednesday, November 9th for a free public reading with Romanian poet Andra Rotaru and Oregon Book Award author Zachary Schomburg.

Andra Rotaru is a poet and journalist, and the author of two collections of poetry, including In a bed under a white sheet and Southern Lands. She has received numerous awards, including the Mihai Eminescu National Poetry Prize and The Bucharest Writer's Association Prize. Rotaru will read her work in Romanian followed by poet Donald Dunbar reading the work in English.

Zachary Schomburg was a 2011 Oregon Book Awards finalist in poetry for his book, Scary No Scary. He is the author of The Man Suit, a DVD of poem-films, Little Blind Thing, and Viking. He co-edits Octopus Magazine and Octopus Books; the press was awarded an Oregon Literary Arts fellowship for publishing in 2011.

Schomburg is also one of the curators of the Bad Blood Reading Series in Portland. On Thursday, November 10th, Andra Rotaru will also be reading as part of Bad Blood, at  ADX, 417 SE 11th Ave. She will be joined at Bad Blood by the poet Mark Yakich. The event is free and open to the public.

PICA is hosting Rotaru as their 2011 CEC ArtsLink Fellow. CEC ArtsLink promotes international communication and understanding through collaborative, innovative arts projects for mutual benefit.
